(Co-ordinator) I.A.R. - Department of processing and recycling of solid waste material - RWTH Aachen University is one of the leading waste management and recycling technologies departments dealing with the development of sustainable waste technologies and systems. It is part of the Faculty of Geo-resources and Materials Engineering which is specifically concerned with raw materials management. I.A.R. not only carries out key research but also offers a variety of trouble shootings for clients from industry and waste disposal companies.

This concerns R & D, consultancy, and practical tests, with various input materials in the laboratories of the department. The fully equipped laboratories allow a rich variety of opportunities to conduct tests in pilot plant scale. I.A.R. is dealing with orders related to an optimisation of processes in the field of waste treatment. Finally, highly sophisticated analytical tests are the basis to characterise complex composite material mixtures or to determine the quality of the processing measures taken.
